Mayfield and Five Ashes Parish Council
Playful marine themed structure in East Sussex
A similar project to this would cost £47,000
We designed a bespoke boat structure, completely unique to Mayfield Park. The low level natural climbing structure includes a bow with a tunnel entrance into a secret hidey hole, clamber nets, a hen walk and a wobbly ladder. A carved mast and cormorant complete the boat, creating a sculptural play element that engages imaginations and encourages open-ended play.
Due to the park being located right adjacent to a nursery, we installed a set of cradle seats into an attractive robinia A-frame. These swings are perfect for younger children, toddlers and babies to experience new movements and sensations.
A bespoke look-out lodge creates a cosy and enchanting space for children to gather. Located in the woodland area of the play space, the den allows children to engage in role play games and imaginary play. The den has integrated seating, a wobbly ladder entrance and a bespoke larch roof with peep-holes!
We installed a sleeper edge, fencing and steps between the upper and lower levels of the play space to create a safe space for children to play, ensuring children could get between the levels safely. To provide an exciting route between the levels, we installed a stainless steel social slide, large enough for two children to slide down at once!
